The 2008 Men's Golf League...

The Men's Golf League has ended.

The golf league is designed to be a "fun & fellowship" league with a healthy helping of competition. The ten, 2-man teams, and the schedule, are listed below. League play continues for 18 weeks with two special weeks to follow. There will be first and second half champions again this year.

September 9, 2008

Greetings Gentlemen! We have successfully completed our first season at Turkeyfoot!

1. The night turned into a 3-team race. In the end, we had two groups finish at 1 under and one team at even par. Ben Mercer and Leroy Brown birdied the first and fifth holes to go with a bogey on #3 to finish one under. Jim Beltz and Bill Hayden birdied the ninth hole after getting pars on the first 8 holes to also finish at one under. The most interesting round of the night came from Ron Cunningham and Dale Bellis, who played like two #1 seeds birdying numbers 1, 4, & 5 but also bogeying #’s 2, 6, & 7.

A number of teams finished at two over, including Lou Kimevski & Don Todd, Troy Feola & Howard O’Brien, Scott Carr & Dave Feola, and Bill Underwood and Ralph Constantine.

2. We will see you all at the golf banquet on Saturday, September 27, at 6:00 p.m. Jeff Cunningham will be taking your orders soon!

3. Ron Cunningham has negotiated a rate reduction on the price of the golf cart for next year. However, it requires everyone to ride and us to pay for the use of the cart before the season begins. This way we do not have to go inside the proshop each week. We just show up, get the carts, and play golf. We will discuss it at the banquet.

4. Once again we salute our winners: First half league champs—Pete Dutka and Dale Bellis; Second half league champs—Scott Carr & Jack Hartman; Overall league champs—Scott Carr & Jack Hartman; Shamble champions—Troy Feola, Ben Mercer, Rob Cowie, and Dave Feola; 4-man scramble—Pete Dutka, Bill Underwood, Rob Cowie, and Jim Beltz; 2-man scramble—Ben Mercer & Leroy Brown, Jim Beltz and Bill Hayden. Congratulations to everyone!

Verse of the week: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. (2 Timothy 4:7-8)

God Bless, Scott Carr
