Pastor Mike Lewis and Wife Trish Lewis
“First Church” refers to me as “Pastor Mike” or “Rev”.
If I would describe First Church in just a few words – I would say, “we’re an ‘old
school’ church in modern day times.”
What I mean by “old school” comes from Mark 12:30-31. When we stay focused
on, “30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with
all your mind and with all your strength” and “31 The second is this: ‘Love your
neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these,” we are
supporting what God asked long before we were ever born.
In 1986 my wife Trish and I became baptized believers, and for 35 years we have
enjoyed being members of the family of God.
Through many prayers, I’ve been getting better at seeking and trusting God to
lead all of my life. Like all of us, I wish I could remove some things from my
“history book”. And through Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection, this becomes a
The gospel is what leads us to an eternity in heaven. We all need Jesus’
Last year I started praying every weekday morning with a great friend of mine,
and God used this to start opening doors for me to become the pastor at First EC
Church in Firestone Park. In June of 2022, I was hired as the pastor, and as a
Christian, I want to know how the scriptures apply to my life today.
Making God real in the lives of others is a passion for me, and as a church, we
desire to become known as a praying church. Prayer is life. It’s what makes God’s
voice come alive.
When we come to believe and are baptized, we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit,
and we’re also given other gifts for us to use. God has given each of us different
gifts so we can form a unified body. When we use our gifts through the Holy Spirit,
God makes them grow.
Encouraging each other to face life with the power of Jesus may sound difficult,
but when we walk together, we gain strength.
Serving the church and sharing the Word in practical, useful ways is my passion.
We’re real people here at First Church, and we’re a family of believers that invites
you to “Come as you are”. You don’t have to clean up your life first. We’re a
growing church that needs help building our programs, and you’re invited to help
us make our church body more complete!
